I recently spoke with an old friend who told me that he does not believe in miracles. I’m fairly certain that if he experienced a live birth he’d change his mind. Bringing a baby into this world is nothing less than absolutely miraculous. Hearing their first cry, seeing their freshness, their newness, is amazing. And witnessing a birth (as opposed to participating in one — like my own) allows you to be just enough removed to truly take in the tiny little miracle and its gigantic proportion.
This was my first time photographing a birth and it was really amazing. And what made it even more amazing is that the parents are close friends of ours from way back when. The day was calm and relaxed. We did a lot of waiting and laughing and waiting. And suddenly it was time. And this rock star mama pushed just a few times and then there was a tiny little newborn baby boy. It was just amazing. He’s almost 7 months old now. But oh wow, his birth was just a miracle and he’s so loved by his parents and his brother and sister and I feel so so grateful to have been a part of his birth day!
P.S. There are a bajillion photos! I couldn’t help it!
